But there’s not many current users over there to answer them. If you still have a reddit account and are willing to help some folks out, please consider doing so!
I appreciate folks making the effort to help over there. I nuked my 12-year-old account and try not to give them any additional traffic, but onboarding new folks is probably one of the best arguments for activity there
wish we could somehow transfer reddit history, but reddit legally owns our posts and identity
Archive.org has it all saved
reddit legally owns our posts and identity
(Laughs in web scraping)
its in their rules, they own everything youve posted and your identity that you use on the site
Rules and laws are just strongly worded suggestions
I wanted to give you some shade for not posting any links to back up your claims.
There was a rumor going around that EULAs can be easily attacked, but when I did a very unthorough search of it, I found the end of this wikipedia article states otherwise.
I’m not making any claims that require sources or links, it’s simply a philosophy and a fact of life, depending how you look at it.
Just because something is a rule and you may face consequences for breaking it, does not mean that you must follow it. You always have the choice and the option to refuse to follow a rule or a law.
Be sure to let them know the Fediverse is kind of like the Marvelverse. Except instead of being a universe of Marvel, it’s a universe about Kevin Federline! The Fediverse!!!
…I just realized that joke is so old that it’s not culturally relevant anymore. Nobody knows who K-Fed was…or cares.
Dammit! It’s a funny joke if this were 2006!
That’s okay Dad! I’m sure that one from 2007 is gonna kill….
“I’m very tech-savvy, but I don’t understand how the Fediverse work” - Then continues to write FUD… I’m so tired lol
Generally, I don’t believe it’s actually an issue with complication. There’s just a resistance to change. That said there’s still significant onus on those invested in the fediverse to make sure It Just Workstm
I miss a lot of the niche communities of reddit that still had engagement. Lemmy doesn’t have all that I used to have, but I decided to join anyway. Not everyone will do that, and like you said that makes the resistance to change even stronger.
thats kind of how it starts, individuals have different thresholds for migrating. its fine for it to take time. =)
It’s fine to use both, most people do
Yeah if you want to that’s fine. I choose not to.
Town and cities subreddits are probably going to be the last to move
You are not alone.
Yeah well maybe they should come here. Lol not to be too harsh. What kinda questions are there anyway? More importantly, what questions are there that can’t be answered by “just go on lemmy brah”?
Joining the fediverse isn’t hard. If you can’t figure out the onboarding process, it’s because you were looking for a reason to not join.
Yes but the process can be improved and it needs to be improved
Can people even make semi anon accounts for reddit anymore. It seems unless they can finger print you and associate your account to real ID, they won’t let you post.
Even if you slip through, the account will get banned within days
You can make an account without an email still but it’s obscured very well.
They still will need to finger print you and tie it something tho is my understanding
