2·3 months agoAre you speculating or is there another source that says that? The article linked here didn’t specify.

World News@lemmy.world•Surgeons remove up to 100 magnets from New Zealand teenager’s intestinesEnglish
19·3 months agoI wanna know what possesses someone to eat 80 magnets. Not 70 or 60 or even 2. 80.
Generally what I’ve heard is that raccoons are very sweet and docile when young. They turn problematic as pets as they age.
treating them
Yeah, I like that. People get sick, often through no fault of their own and we all deserve compassion and treatment.
purging them
Oh.

Monsanto released “Roundup Ready” soybeans in 1996 (and corn in 1998) which carried the restriction regarding collecting seeds and replanting them.
This has been a thing for some time now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Can anyone recommend a very simple and hopefully inexpensive 'system' by which a bedridden older person might be able to access music or videos?English
2·3 months agoIn the same vein, a TV might work too as long as it’s able to receive digital programming. They make small ones you could probably make work.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Why isn't Lemmy doing anything about issues where the propagandists/spammers can be seen spreading staged or AI-generated propaganda, such as "This is Gaza, Unfiltered"?English
9·3 months agoThe very question of “why isn’t Lemmy doing anything” is deeply misunderstanding the structure of this network. Report something offending and instance mods will look at it. You know, like all the reports I got about this post.

36·4 months agoNo. This isn’t normal. Go to a doctor or urgent care today.
I’m not a doctor and this isn’t medical advice, but it looks like Cellulitis to me which can be very dangerous.

1·4 months agoGotcha, thanks for the clarification. Clearly I don’t run in right circles to have ever heard that before.
I’m still getting a ton of reports about this thread. An open call for everyone to cool their jets please. I don’t really wanna lock anything.

Risa@startrek.website•I asked ChatGPT to summarize Voyager and this is what it madeEnglish
3·4 months agoThe most basic prompt I could write for this:
Panel 1:
Janeway riding a bike labeled “Voyager crew in the Delta Quadrant.”
Caption: “We’re stranded 70,000 light years from home, let’s be smart and careful.”
Panel 2:
Janeway happily jamming a stick into her own bike wheel.
Caption: “Break the Prime Directive, ally with dangerous aliens, get half the crew killed every other week.”
Panel 3:
Janeway lying on the ground, holding her leg, blaming others.
Caption: “The Delta Quadrant is so hostile! Why is it so hard to get home?!”

This is a teaser. It’s not meant to answer all those questions (although the full hardware page does answer a lot). It’s to get you thinking and talking about it. More details will come, but they haven’t even announced an order date and deliver is still “early 2026”.
