This is cool. It needs a lot of polish though. I hope it does well.

They want to blame the losses on the Kimmel debacle so later on when all the rubes cave in and get disney again, they can choose to portray it as some kind of victory
I was gonna wait until its sale prices dipped into the sub-$30 range. But this might actually get me to buy it sooner.
I only game on my steamdeck now. And it has practically zero security on it. Admin has no password. When I realized that I then came to the conclusion that Steam doesn’t give a fuck about security.
I tried setting an admin password on it and it broke everything. So it’s in a penalty box on my network and can’t access anything except the outside internet and I do nothing with it but game.
Glad I’m not the only one
The promise was to integrate your contents of the fridge with some kind of smarts that let you know when your milk was going to expire and to suggest you buy more. The reality is that is dumb because it takes more effort to maintain that digital list than just noting “I need to buy milk”. And now it’s used for advertising space because it has no other real purpose.
I generally do too. But then you’re also at the mercy of whether the site was designed with even the most basic of security in mind. Luckily the password managers all generate unique passwords so one site getting hacked and plaintext passwords stolen won’t get my bank info put at risk - but still.
Honestly I thought it was great when OAuth started making it easy to use my various pre-existing IDs as logins for websites. But now I cant remember which one is which and my password manager doesn’t give me any hints. Sigh.
We’re all getting the Star Trek experience of the early 21st century troubles.
I think when they invented the idea back in the 60s/70s that it was a great idea to just use found materials. Land is expensive enough - so if you could just build an awesome house out of crap… then go for it!
But today we have new green building technologies. Like… they used to just use tar and gravel shingles to roof the buildings and that was where water was shed into their drinking water cisterns. Yuck. We know better. Why are they still advocating for using rammed earth tires? We have new green cements that are low psi but they suck CO2 out of the air and they have plenty of thermal mass.
Honestly I want to see the next generation of earthship inspired dwellings. Use modern materials and construction techniques. Maybe one off-shoot will be 3d printed earthships.
“Baked lobster”
I really like the idea but I get the feeling that the Earthship org is a sex cult. The guy running it exclusively recruits college aged people and he sends the men off to ram earth in tires. I think the idea needs to be modernized. Using a sledgehammer to ram earth is extremely laborious and the whole “only use found materials” thing is kinda dumb.
The earth is winding its way through the universe. Then again we don’t exactly have a steering wheel or brake pedal.
Just store the JSON in a sqlite table with an extra column or two for commonly indexed stuff…?
You can pry sqlite out of my cold dead hands. Because I’ll probably die while using it out of frustration due to the poor performance of triggers.
You might want to consider using country codes in your language identifier.
en-US en-UK en-CA
all have slight variations in dialect. I don’t speak other languages but I imagine it is important in many cases.
Or a link to a thread on microsoft answers that 404s
The real problem here is that everyone feels they have an interest in the investigation going one way or another. So they ignore evidence that is right in front of their eyes. And because everything is so disorganized, there is no clear or coherent narrative that can be proven or disproven which just leads to more speculation and confusion.
Like that link you showed had a bunch of links to evidence of one kind or another. It claimed the shooter didn’t have a rifle with him in photos - but the link used to back up that claim clearly showed him running off the roof while carrying a soft long gun bag.
At first I thought that had nothing to do with anything… then it zoomed out and showed their positions were within feet of Kirk. I can’t say for sure that this was an inside job, but those movements definitely indicate some kind of coordination was used - so it’s now believable this wasn’t a lone gunman.
Did Trump’s stroke damage the part of his brain that made him know Putin is blackmailing him?
