Congress stopped it. Trump and crew didn’t even know the acronym DEI at this point, they were busy trying to hide his whole circles connections to Russia and UAE, defending being a “p*ssy grabber”, dunking on military vets, eating TONS of McDonald’s, and yes, constantly golfing at his resorts on the tax payer dime.
I have heard that schools in my area have begun the process of making “code red” plans if ICE or someone shows up to schools looking for students/parents. It is being done by small groups and no details shared outside of the people they are contacting to share the plan with. It’s all scary as hell and I HATE that it’s even a thing. =(

OMG yes, I soooo wish I could, but my brain needs input! Not knowing does not compute. I originally had the plan to block all the news/political communities as soon as I knew the election outcome, but not knowing what is coming feels worse than the emotional weight of knowing good people are being hurt as a distraction by some shit heads so that they can rob us for all we have (as a country).

Is that actually a thing you have confirmed happening anywhere though? I can see a qualification tie going to diversity (because diversity has been proven to spark creative solutions, etc.), but the myth that “whites” are just being passed over for anyone “non-whites” sounds like racist propaganda. And repeating it as a “question” is playing, either intentionally or not, into that propaganda.
And looking to get some of that sweet AI money President Musk and VP Trump are giving out to I’m sure.
Looks like they are dropping the “Alpha” tag also, as it doesn’t really apply anymore.
Moving away from the Alpha label
Before presenting you with the new features of this new release, we would like to officially announce that this will be the latest version labeled Alpha. We have already updated the versioning scheme (this version being 0.27.0) and we will progressively stop using the Alpha label altogether up to the next release, which will be Release 28.
Also remember that Tesla owns I think just shy of 10K Bitcoins that actually allowed its numbers this quarter by $600 million. And the way Trump has his minions pulling all crypto regulations look for Tesla to exploit it to the max going forward. Maybe they’ll even buy some $TRUMP coins and announce $ELON coins for foreign entities looking to launder money destined for the White House.
If it wasn’t for all the negatives, it would certainly be amusing to have a giant face for people to vandalize constantly (by even GOP folks who will have the spell broken) when Trump is gone from the this world. Nobody likes him, and nobody actually respects him, they all just see him as a means to an end (power/$).
I don’t know why, but a graffiti competition on Trumps giant head would be pretty entertaining. Make it a poll and winner gets to have their art displayed for a year. Hell, make it a fundraiser and help some people hurt by this monster also.
I don’t think it’s always a difficult task to tell if someone is arguing in bad faith or not, and someone basing their argument on incorrect information is not that (and I assume you know that). So trying to say that I see a mere disagreement on a topic the same as one made in bad faith sounds like you’re trying to conflate the two, making it a bad faith argument.
But if pretending a ‘difference of opinion = bad faith argument’ is what you’re looking for I guess good luck. That is what I would call a “circle jerk”, but to each their own. Not sure how that type of discussion with no basis in reality can help anyone to “learn and grow” though.

So the issue is once you have removed those, you aren’t left with many people holding a very broad spectrum of viewpoints outside of niche topics (Vi vs Emacs).
I think you are going to have a hard time finding a place to talk with a group that overall deals in bad faith arguments and hate speech. They also tend to silo themselves off to their own platforms over concerns that their hate speech gets them moderated (because Free Speech != does not mean speech without consequences or needs to be tolerated by everyone).
If you really want to see the MAGA “point of view” you are probably better off going to them on Truth Social, Gab, 4chan, The_Donald, etc.

I"m sure the irony is intend on an election on the same day as the US celebration of Independence. =) I watched the John Oliver episode about this election though, and congrats on what looks like Labor being the big winner over the Conservative party.
Well hindsight is always 20/20, and some of the topics you could tell Biden felt passionate about exacerbating his trouble articulating his thoughts. Overall I don’t think a “debate” is the correct format for trying to contrast himself with Trump. You can’t argue with the kid that is just going to stick out his tongue or make fart noises anytime you try and talk, and that is what Joe was trying to do with Trump.
Sorry, I can’t find it now. I know I read or heard it around the time of the debate, but have no idea where at this point so I’ve noted such above. And up until I saw a post here on Lemmy about how much of a train wreck it was early on I wasn’t even going to watch the debate at all, because I already know I’m pro-democracy and that is really what this election is all about.

That article reads like a right-wing talking points memo, definitely not “just reporting the news”.
So essentially everyone comes out of this per-screen equal-ish.
So maybe when looking at the data, people who didn’t put politics/history into their work did a better job at something sensitive like being an ATC? And maybe the data showed people that played multiple sports had the stamina and ability to juggle multiple things in a high stress situation? And perhaps knowing how to actually fly a plane was worth less than knowing how to get and keep that plane safely in the air? And as for being an ATC in the military, maybe it was zero points because the skills of getting a plane into the air to delete a target in a potentially hostile environment is different than a commercial aircraft full of citizens wanting to go on spring break?
