Fortnite hasn’t had loot boxes or anything even resembling item gambling for years. Everything is not only optional/cosmetic but also clearly priced. Of all the exploitative games to use as an example, it’s one of the least problematic.
Yeah, but they had them for years and I guarantee you they didn’t remove them out of generosity - iirc they had to be forced to do so. Just not a business worth supporting in my opinion.
Do you still support Valve? They practically invented the modern cosmetics and loot box economy and CS has one of the most exploitative implementations still in operation.
Fair point. I mean sure, I could also avoid Valve altogether but since Steam is the place to buy games nowadays it’s hard to accomplish. I do certainly avoid games with said in-game economies, though. A lot of Valve’s games are absolute masterpieces but I try not to buy the games I disagree with on a fundamental level.
