Downvoting for the format. Need more info on each individual “news” item claims and sources. Literally no other news source is reporting this ICE statement, though it’s very believable.

Not OP, but I did find this from a CBS affiliate which includes a statement they were given by ICE which seems to be the same.

"ICE and federal law enforcement partners coordinated a lawful arrest with the Albemarle General District Court of an illegally present, violent Honduran alien with multiple arrests for assault and battery as well as an outstanding order of protection against him. Two bystanders unsuccessfully attempted to obstruct enforcement efforts, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office intends to prosecute those individuals.

Regrettably, the Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney is posturing for the media and attempting to disgrace the brave officers who made the lawful apprehension in coordination with his office, in an attempt to gain political capital.

ICE stands behind the actions of the law enforcement officers, who are trained to assess and prosecute apprehensions in a manner that best ensures operational success and public safety. It is shameful that the Commonwealth Attorney, a sworn officer of the court and fellow law enforcement officer, has decided to prioritize politics over public safety - placing a criminal’s wellbeing above that of the brave women and men in law-enforcement, whom the Commonwealth Attorney took an oath to support."

It is very odd though that I didn’t find any other coverage from what I would call a reliable source. Maybe it’s just too new…?

Literally not the same phrasing or verbs. “Prosecuted”??? Don’t see that anywhere online, and doubt this video blog has the inside track.

ICE has zero authority to prosecute anyone anywhere. The same way that police forces do not have the ability to prosecute anyone, anywhere.
