Yep the system was built on good faith and the idea that at least one of these branches would do better.
If I were to rebuild the system I’d probably push greater power to state legislatures and the people of the state over their congressional representatives. For example say a 2/3rds majority of a state senate can recall a congressman and trigger reelection. Then every state should also have a way for the people directly to trigger recall elections.
Elections for the house and senate also need to occur yearly or every other year. Imagine if 1/4th of senate seats were elected every year.
We need to expand congress. 2 senators per state was for when the US had way less people. Why not bump it up to 3? The house of Representatives could also use another 100+ seats added.
Finally put term limits on the Supreme Court and introduce ranked choice voting.
You wanna know why no one does anything? Because people post shit like this about how we are fucked and then go about their day feeling like they did something.
You act like we didnt just have the 3rd biggest protest on American Soil ever. Democracy may die in the dark but in these days thats also where its being saved.
The bickering isn’t helping. You both have a point, and I agree that more action is needed. Unfortunately, money rules all and protests are not effective in the US unless they are tied to financial outcomes. General strikes may be what it takes to actually yield change.
Those are happening. But looking at all the movements they probably needed to start all of this during the election, not after the fact. Theres just not enough time now.
Boy it’s a good thing Trump isn’t wiping his ass with the constitution then, huh?
Give me a fucking break. The constitution is worthless if it gets ignored and nobody does anything about it.

A parliamentary system is superior in just about every way.
Shh, don’t say the P-word. Call it proportional representation. Anything that sounds too British is almost certainly doomed.
The constitution is worthless because it’s an outdated pact between literal slavers.

It should’ve started before the election. The time to avoid this outcome was February to August 2024.
Shit we probably should have convicted him in 2020. A lot of points of failure here. Really doesnt make much sense.
