It’s not just the weights though is it? You can download the training data they used, and run your own instance of the model completely separate from their servers.

I’ve been on his shit list lately because i had to take some medical leave and didn’t deliver my project on time.

Now that this thing is open sourced, I can bring it to him, tell him it out performs even chatgpt O1 or whatever it is, and tell him that we can operate it locally. I’ll be off the shit list and back into his good graces and maybe even get a raise.

actually no. when don the con got elected the first time, i saved up as much as i could, sold as much stuff as i could and just left. I was illegal in France for a while, but did eventually find a job that was willing to sponsor a visa for me. I had to go back to the states to get my visa issued, though, that took a few weeks. I’ve been here ever since, and yeah it’s fucking hard to leave my family back home in the states, it’s honestly much better to live here with my kids than there.
