    Meatpacking jobs that had once provided a middle-class American life now offered little more than poverty wages.

    are we meant to empathize with slaughterhouse workers, let alone american slaughterhouse workers who are angry that they can’t maintain a position of disparity relative to the victims of US imperialism who paid for that “middle class life” with their blood in the first place?
