I’m not sure I’ve seen that movie but I do remember one where some kids (or one kid?) rode bikes into an old quarry. I grew up near old quarries in southern Ohio and heard the same things you mentioned, and likewise never did those things. My Aunt worked at IU in the 60s, I am going to ask if she ever heard about this if she can remember. She was a librarian there.

Looking good! We got out at work and did some lunging and a bit of riding. It was warm! But we have a winter system moving in and it looks like it will be cold after that. We need the snow here, looks like you still have some!
When I was a teenager, I worked in a garden department of a store. We had plants to water. The pipes for the water had shutoffs in the ceiling in addition to the faucets themselves. I was working over the weekend and needed to water the plants, but no water would come out. The ceiling shutoffs were open, but I had heard there was a master shutoff just inside the store.
So I went in and was looking around on the walls, following pipes, and found this very large pipe with a shutoff on it. It had a tag hanging on it that said “emergency test” but my teen brain thought this meant it had been tested and passed inspection.
I turned it on and went outside, only to find an enormous amount of water coming out a different pipe, some kind of drain. Not what I wanted! When I reentered the store, the fire alarm was going off, but I thought nothing of it, shut the valve, and went about my business. By the time I got back outside, the fire department was there.
About 15 minutes later, fire folks in full gear were in my area poking around with the boss. I asked what happened, and they said for some reason there was a pressure drop in the sprinkler system and it triggered an automatic response 😬 I told them what I did, and they said they were too old for this, and then left. Not a great decision for me that day…

I had a friend that went from voting for Sanders in the 2016 primary to Trump in the general. I will never understand it. I tried for awhile. We’re no longer friends.

So what about the boos? So many people who are republican said no to Trump and fell in line anyway. Who do the “never Trump” folks vote for? I’m not sure if it is possible to poll voters about this or gage interest before the election actually happens.
I have a college degree I have never used. It wasn’t cheap even tho much of it was paid with grants.

I was being genuine and said nothing about forcing people. It’s an option to consider, but not one you will see when you lack compassion.
I live in a rural town (1 hour+ drive in any drection to the next town) and I could see this being a good thing if implemented correctly. This town isn’t equipped for an influx of any people, but has vacant lots that could be turned into a variety of housing. There aren’t a lot of jobs, but I would think more people would mean more things could be offered. Potentially great way to invest in rural areas!
I had a friend in high school that I loosely kept up with, went to their wedding, listened to them about divorce etc. For about 10 years out of school. Then they tried to sell their (9ish year old?) daughter for drugs, thankfully to an undercover agent of some kind.
That was about 10 years ago, no idea where they are now. I had no idea they were using any kind of drug, let alone to that extent. Maybe some x in school. This happened in Ohio. I’m glad you found some good in the area, I left as a young adult haha.
