Ah so, ja, da hast einen Punkt. Sind die Preise bei den europäischen Nachbarn so viel niedriger? Die Frage ist ernst gemeint - seit EU-Roaming bin ich hier eher ahnungslos unterwegs.

Ist in der Tat komisch. Der billigste Tarif bei der Telekom US geht bei $60 USD los. In Deutschland bei €25 EUR. Ist zwar billiger, aber eher nur doppelt und nicht dreifach. Außerdem gibt es auch in den USA Billiganbieter wie Mint und bei denen gibt es die 5GB für $15 USD.

Es ergibt aus meiner Sicht nur Sinn mit dieser Besonderheit in den USA bei den Preisen: Die sind in der Regel ohne Steuern und Gebühren. Bei den €25 EUR ist aber alles enthalten, so dass aus dem $60 USD, je nach Bundesstaat, schnell $75 USD und mehr für den Verbraucher werden können. Hier kommt die Behauptung mit dem dreifachen Umsatz pro Kind schon hin.

I don’t know the details or have any more information, but there is a background as to reporting suicides in Germany.

Usually, it is consensus between the German news outlets not to report suicides, unless it has been committed by a person of interest, usually a celebrity. This is not a law or otherwise enforced, but a common understanding of the outlets amongst each other, so there will be no promotion of suicide. To me, this seems to be a plausible reason for the vague language, but again, I don’t know.

Ich will hier jetzt keinen auf FDP-Wähler und Der Markt wird es schon richten!!!EINSELF!!! machen, aber für mich ist das eine Frage der Ausgestaltung der Verträge. Ich gehe nicht davon aus, das die Telekom die Leitungen exklusiv mieten würde.

Wenn die Telekom dann zuviel für den Anschluss will, gehe ich halt zum anderen Anbieter, der ja schnell einspringen kann, weil er halt keine extra Leitung buddeln muss.

Aber ja, wahrscheinlich wird es in der Realität eine exklusive Vermietung sein, weil F-you, und es wird keinen anderen Anbieter geben.

Ich geh mal wieder weiter träumen…

I personally liked the PAI approach from the Mi Band where you get points for various activities, depending on the heart rate during the activity. You loose the points after a week - motivating you to continue and also the points are harder to get the better you get at the activity, because of the lower heart rate. I know, it’s all smoke and mirrors, but I I liked that approach for the same reasons you mentioned.

German here. No, we don’t do that here. (Exceptions: Football World Cup and weird dudes on camp sites or allotment gardens. Usually a sign to avoid the area.) Interestingly, the fascists don’t show the German flag, but the one from the Germany before the current one…

Not a lawyer here, but from my naive understanding: HELL YEAH! I mean, it only works from Europe, but every company has to nominate a contract for GDPR inquiries. Once they received that inquiry, there is a mandated deadline. If they fail to comply, the data protection authority can fine a portion of their revenues (not profits). Please take my info with a grain of salt as I haven’t verified them, but that is how I understand our system.
