I totally get that. Trust me, I’ve so been there (and the current climate doesn’t help).
It took me a while to realize that 9 times out of 10, what brings me happiness is listening to a song I like. Sometimes even a sad song. Something that can make me feel an emotion.
We need to do small - tiny - things that bring us some modicum of joy on a regular basis, otherwise the bad guys win.
I refuse to lay down my arms, and a part of that is continuing to fight for moments of happiness.
Existing is resisting.
To give you an idea, you can just use the app for simple self-care, like taking 3 breaths 3 times a day and doing something that makes you happy once daily. It also has timers, soundscapes and a whole bunch of goodies. It doesn’t have to be a productivity app although that’s how I use it.

Normally I’d say, “Thats me!” But lately I have been on fire.
I started using the Finch app where you raise a bird and can put it in cute outfits all by completing tasks. It’s basically tamagotchi for ADHDers. And it has a strong focus on self-care with things like breathing exercises and reflections.
I know it won’t help everyone, but for me it’s been a game-changer. I love my birb!
My husband’s main hobby is collecting baseball cards, but he also makes money buying and selling them (along with Pokémon and MTG). He was always a bit embarrassed of this hobby until he learned he has autism and it’s just his special interest. Now he understands and accepts himself better. And that’s hella attractive.
If you read the comments, it seems to be precisely the people in countries with universal healthcare who are having trouble. Getting diagnosed in the US is relatively easy. For me it was a single visit to a psychiatrist, $300 out of pocket because I have not hit my deductible yet. Have been on stimulants and doing well ever since.
“I’ve been poisoned by my constituents!”
She is eating a raw cut-up duck breast, like a princess.
I’m not goth, but my husband treats me like Gomez treats Morticia. Can confirm that a lot of sex happens. So, like, do it.
Love me some Four Corners mischief. There is usually a food truck there serving Native American frybread - delicious!!!
From afar, I love the food. I’d love to visit and learn more about the country but as a woman I don’t feel safe going there.
You can find people who can relate in the !bipolardisorder@lemmy.world community because hypersexuality is one of the common symptoms of mania/hypomania. I don’t think we have any specific resources though. You are more than welcome to post there without having bipolar!
I would keep working part time because I love my job (psychotherapist). I would also garden, knit, go camping a lot, learn a musical instrument, write fiction and non-fiction books, have a podcast about mental health, and spend more time with friends. Traveling would also be a favorite.
You should put them on Spotify and find out. Cause I’m pretty sure you are right.
That’s why I post pictures of opossums, bats, and raccoons…
I remember seeing it as a teenager. Creepy as fuck.
NextDoor is on the next level of paranoia and fear-mongering. There is a lady in my that posts about “gunshots” like every other day. We live in an ultra-safe suburban neighborhood, and I can assure you there are no gunshots. She is far from the only crazy person on there.
And will masterfully eat around the pill, getting all the cheese and none of the medicine.
My husband went to a conference 2 weeks ago in Florida. Blue collar industry, no one is vaccinated, no one wearing a mask. He came home and immediately had Covid (we are both vaccinated). I got it too. Motherfuckers. Oh, and if he wore a mask there is a very serious chance he’d be shunned at work, which we can’t afford.
He is so greasy, literally and figuratively.
I don’t really look at the number left, I guess. Most of them are things like taking a breath, drinking water, taking meds, meditating, etc. it’s stuff I would be doing anyway but now they are framed as goals that get me cute outfits.
I have a friend who strictly uses this app for self-care and only has like 5 goals daily, and they are almost always the same.
It’s flexible that way.
