Not disagreeing, but in addendum.
What you’re describing is the end result of the Starve the Beast method of politics, to slowly break a social program so people don’t care when it’s axed.

Yeah, we absolutely need to start with worker rights. I think part of the problem is that we in America have been on the nationalist train for so long that we’re simply unaware of how good it could be.
It’s nuts that people over here think my state law of 1 hour PTO awarded for every 40 hours worked is too much of a burden for employers.
How does missing work help the climate? Genuine question, but I’ve been fired when a car broke down over the weekend, and I couldn’t get another one before Monday. I don’t see how it was better that I wound up spending the money I was saving for an electric car on an old junker so I didn’t miss rent and get evicted.
Edit: Just tell me you don’t have an answer instead of downvoting, this isn’t Reddit.
On the flip side, they’ve got plenty of excuses they can use, I’mma smoke my weed, haha
Just like learning how to cook for yourself is a poor solution for people who live in a food desert or don’t have access to a kitchen, sure.
American culture is changing. It used to be that family bonds were the tightest, and we had generational housing, but that started going away during the great depression when a lot of family farms shut down and people lost the house they’d been in for generations. We also don’t like to talk about the amount of generational trauma that came from both the world wars, and that was another nail in the coffin of family life. The most recent blow has been the economy, where both parents need to work and don’t have the time to build the bonds with their children that are needed for a tight-knit family unit.
I don’t know why you keep bringing up luxuries like avocados. I don’t remember the last time I ate an avocado, or a banana, or any exotic fruit for that matter.
I somehow feel like you won’t listen to LLM criticism from me either, so it’s a disingenuous argument.
