  • I heard the wifi situation was difficult to deal with

Understatement of the year LMAO nah it was terrible. Typically the top 3 biggest PITA common issues was GPU, WiFi and trackpad, in that order. Every. Time. Didn’t have the right brand, you were SOL. If you had a Dell with that wonderful WiFi card whitelist the damn brands that worked were always off it or were crappy.

Though I’d take WiFi driver issues over having to deal with that dam GPU bumble bee-thingy (idr anymore, the gaming laptop GPU “hot switching” thing)

I’m going to go lay down and have my trauma flashbacks now…

  • However, the kids who play these games, donate, and urge other kids to do the same, are all being exploited three ways to Sunday.

Hate to break it to you, but most kids dgaf about “the cause” I bet the “donation” unlocks a weapon or hat or secret bonus level or something and that’s what they want

A scummy company is a scummy company, doesn’t mean the children are being exploited per se, they could literally have an in-game sign that said “Give me a robux and you can get this hat for your character” and theyd probably get kids to pay for it just the same

  • False, that appears to be hiddenlayer posting to all 3 major programmer humors

I only do .ml to here as part of a small ongoing effort to direct content away from a tankie instance to other instances. I don’t even crosspost based on how “hot” they are, just whenever I see them.

I didn’t even know there was a .world programmer humor, why did they use the exact same .ml version logo lmao

  • Can some people list reasonable use cases for a bi/trifold phone? I am sure they can but 99% of people absolutely don’t need a bi/trifold phone to browse social media or the internet, make calls, send text messages etc.

Well the biggest use case is everything you would use a tablet for without having to carry a tablet. For me personally, it’s the first and only tablet I actually use with regularity, I have SO many tablets I’ve bought in the past that ended up collecting dust in archive for the simple reason that they’re not around me when I needed them the most. So by your reasoning, the entire tablet category is unnecessary

micro SD card, rf receiver, headphone jack, a phone OS that isn’t bloated spyware, that I can drop from more than a couple feet on accident and not worry about it being a health hazard. (A good stylus is a plus.)

MicroSD card and the headphone jack is never coming back outside the niche categories, though as the Foldy tech matures it could come within reach of one of those niche manufacturers

RF Receiver? Unsure what you mean here, do you mean FM Radio?

For an unbloated spyware free OS you’ll have to pickup a Pixel and flash GrapheneOS to it, which both of the Pixel foldy offerings are fully compatible with

Samsung is also rumored to be working on getting a stylus into the Foldy line up, though it is fairly tricky with the space constraints of a foldy

What do you mean by “health hazard”?

  • EC2 are cloud based virtual machines, very easy to spin one up exactly as you need it to run whatever.

But they’re billed hourly and they get very expensive very very fast especially when you leave it on (the hourly billing is for a machine that’s on and running) and have shit tons of resources on it. You can have multiple terabyte RAM machines at the click of a button
