Changing ports isn’t a terrible thing, also not the perfect “fix” either, as you can still recognize open ports and scan the service on them.
Some ports are reserved in networking, so should stay away from those.
Some ISPs don’t allow you open ports on 80/443 as those are web hosting ports and they provide a service to consumers to download content from the internet, not for their consumer to be a web hosting provider as well. That’s at the residential level, if you have a business plan that might change, but it might be hard to convince and ISP otherwise.
I run a PiHole and have Quad9 as the upstream resolver instead of the ISP. That was pretty simple to setup as well. You can also do DNS-over-HTTPs and other options as well for content filtering to block malware and items of DNS upstream.
I saw that one too. I was looking to see how we could add the “related” magazines and federated sites together as well.
I’ve started/modding
Cloudflare DNS proxied dns to be exact too. They also allow DNS only which is not routed through Cloudflare and the services.
What is hard too, is if all the posts to get things started are the mods or creator, the same ghost town might occur. It’s hard to tell or know what will be interesting to get people talking so to speak. Some should also be put on the subscribers as well who also have an interest. It’s a double edge sword sometimes.
It did have a pretty good storyline all the way through. There were some moments I thought could have been done slightly different but it’s still in a top 10 list when asked what is a favorite or watch again list.
On lemmy searching for kbin magazines would probably be just like lemmy, but specifying the instance name.
On kbin if I’m looking for this community I’d search for @nostupidquestions and subscribe
Absolutely! There’s a lot of community members and new ideas of things that should happen and. It as well. The federation between instances is what makes it new as well and there’s a lot of opinions as well.
Some favorites and good ones to watch
Kbin is actually less than 6 months old on the public side and I’m sure mobile apps are on the forecast. I know there is an app in the works already too. Even lemmy is a little young in public use so any mobile apps are not as polished.
The apps being built are by others offering their time for the greater use of the fediverse.
I like how kbin in a way combines the thread feel of posts and the microblogging timeline of mastodon into one thing.
You can follow users from each platform as well and follow their posts as well.
I was going to mention this as well. I went from Google, to Authy, to Raivo OTP and never looked back. Their sync system is great too.
They have a website too with more articles as well https://raivo-otp.com/
On kbin there are options to upvote and downvote. The upvotes are related to favorites and boosts are like reblogs in the mastodon scheme. kbin has a unique way to blend the thread style of communication and content with the microblog that is better federated to other Activity Pub server instance types.
I wish one account on the fediverse was more easily used across platforms: mastodon, peertube and kbin for example. I can follow kbin on mastodon but came enjoy the thread experience of kbin. Still getting used to each platform as well as they each offer a unique experience of their own.
Still love the GameCube and games. This is what we introduced the kids too and it’s been fun watching them play the games that brought me a lot of fun too.
Mario Kart
Super smash brothers
Crazy Taxi
Could find the RCA connections on tvs now, but the Wii was great in the backward compatibility! Dolphin worked great for some games too, and a controller USB adapter and we’re in business!
