I’ve spotted a similar talking point in the Polish fringe far right a few weeks ago. That ‘we should offer to take in Palestinians because they’re being persecuted, but only the christian ones’.

well the US could have halted the numerous earlier Israeli provocations on Iran if they really wanted to deescalate, I mean a bombing of a march commemorating the assassination of Soleimani… the intentions seem pretty clear, maybe they don’t want a boots on the ground war but they’re probably ok with escalation, sorta like how Ukraine was denied some long range weapons
‘100% would be unbelievable, let’s go with 99%…’ <hit send>
right I guess they just differ in presentation/marketing, both subservient vassals, Bolsonaro coming out of the army and Milei coming out of his weird libertarian circles, wasn’t there a campaign rally picture of Bolsonaro carrying a triple flag post with flags of Brazil/Israel/Ukraine? I recall an old Greyzone stream (when Ben Norton was still there) where they were making fun of it… though Bolsonaro didn’t leave BRICS and Milei wants to… but Brazil is a founding member and Argentina was just joining, in theory the people afteri Milei can re-join
Reason - FBI Agent Says He Hassles People ‘Every Day, All Day Long’ Over Facebook Posts [29/03/2024]
The FBI spends “every day, all day long” interrogating people over their Facebook posts. At least, that’s what agents told Stillwater, Oklahoma, resident Rolla Abdeljawad when they showed up at her house to ask her about her social media activity. Three FBI agents came to Abdeljawad’s house and said that they had been given “screenshots” of her posts by Facebook. Her lawyer Hassan Shibly posted a video of the incident online on Wednesday.
Abdeljawad told agents that she didn’t want to talk and asked them to show their badges on camera, which the agents refused to do. She wrote on Facebook that she later confirmed with local police that the FBI agents really were FBI agents. “Facebook gave us a couple of screenshots of your account,” one agent in a gray shirt said in the video.
“So we no longer live in a free country and we can’t say what we want?” replied Abdeljawad.
“No, we totally do. That’s why we’re not here to arrest you or anything,” a second agent in a red shirt added. “We do this every day, all day long. It’s just an effort to keep everybody safe and make sure nobody has any ill will.”
Abdeljawad’s Facebook timeline is public, so the FBI agents could have found it themselves. For the past week, she has made multiple angry posts per day about the war in Gaza, referring to Israel as “Israhell.” But none of the posts on her feed call for violence.
I often wonder this too
Miami Herald - Have more Palestinians or Israelis died in war? Half of Americans don’t know, poll says [22/03/2024]
About 32,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis have been killed since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, marking a casualty ratio of roughly 26 to 1, according to officials from both governments. But despite this massive disparity, half of Americans do not know which side has had a higher death toll, according to a March 21 poll from the Pew Research Center. The poll, conducted in February, sampled 12,693 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points. When asked via a “basic knowledge” multiple choice question whether the death toll was higher among Palestinians or Israelis, 48% of respondents did not select the correct answer. One-third, 34%, selected “not sure,” while 7% chose “higher among Israelis” and 7% chose “about the same.” A slim majority of respondents, 52%, correctly reported that more Palestinians have died.
maybe this is coming from that right wing ‘China controls the WHO/UN because they fund them’ conspiracy logic
makes me wonder what kind of stuff will go down regarding construction in LA in preparation for the olympics in 28
Reminds me of when Ben Norton had journalist Brian Mier on after the last Brazilian election and Brian mentioned how there are many small parties in Brazil that will cooperate with anyone from Bolsonaro to Lula as long as they are offered some concessions, a purely transactional attitude, just worried about their own little carve outs, at the same time they always clear the minimum vote requirement to get into government lol.
Ok, sounds like the main reason the Indian opposition alliance exists is a lot of those politicians are tired of losing and want to try a single voting list, a bit like the opposition parties tried to do in Hungary (and still ended up losing).
Thank you both for the replies, it’s interesting stuff that I’ll try to look into more in the future. I see that in the 2019 elections BJP managed to win in a lot of regions, except for the south and southeast. Much has happened since then like COVID and the farmer protests so I suspect the BJP won’t be as dominant in 2024. I also see there was a new 26 party ‘opposition alliance’ created last month.
By the way, is it common to see people from the northern states show more of a regional prejudice? Are the northern areas richer and protecting their wealth through discrimination, or is it just the cultural and religious differences between the states particularly messing with people’s perceptions?
they look ready to face the world, got the torch and everything
