I have two rhetorical questions:

• are modern devs really unable to do something that work NOT in the browser?
• why every dev is about to invent its own - incompatible with the whole other world - protocol?

There are social networking apps: Planetary and Manyverse.

Tags represent flat structure while folders allow you to build some hierarchy.

I use Ice Cubes client on my iOS. And it has a feature called “Local timelines”. I just add an interesting instances there and read it without any problems, just like if it was my local timeline.
