  • I don’t think there’s an explanation that doesn’t make this copilot’s fault. Honestly JavaScript shouldn’t allow math between numbers and strings in the first place. “1” + 1 is not a number, and there’s already a type for that: NaN

Regardless, the sum should be 5 if the first cell is text, so it’s incorrect either way.

  • Honestly this is the best advice. It doesn’t have the highest chance of success, but it’s the only path that could really result in healing and reconnection. Some people do dumb things when confronted with mortality or serious illness, especially if they’re young and inexperienced. If she could be honest and sincere it would demonstrate awareness and potentially growth.

  • I think it has more to do with my sense of humor than my opinions. Some people can’t laugh at things they find objectionable. Some people struggle to find humor in certain situations.

Funny is not an intrinsic property of a bit, it’s subjective. There are people who hardly laugh at anything. Funny is in the laugh of the beholder.

  • That is emphatically not what I said.

I was just sharing my experience since it informed the way I interpreted the joke. I think it makes sense for her to talk about using a vibrator with partners since that’s probably something she has experienced.

Casting this joke as ‘male feelings being ridiculed’ is so strange. She’s talking about her own feelings, making light of the expectations her partners have set.

It’s not bigoted or mean spirited. The joke is fine.

  • It’s funny because some guys get mad about a woman using a vibrator, but would be thrilled to give LeBron an assist.

They have no problem being cooperative in some settings, but in the bedroom feel like it’s a solo performance.

It’s especially funny because sex, of all things, is basically defined by the cooperative nature; you aren’t there to win points, you’re just trying to have a good time.

So in summary, it’s funny because it reverses expectations; the imaginary partner like cooperating in a competitive scenario, but gets competitive in a cooperative one.

  • I think the cookie represents entitlements or government services granted to citizens.

The wealthy person has oodles of subsidies and tax breaks, but is trying to scare the working person by talking about the immigrant seeking equality.

That is literally the messaging from corporate media sources. The comic doesn’t really get into whether the working person believes it or not, to me it’s more about the messaging used by the wealthy.

I don’t actually think global markets or immigration are inherently bad things. It’s vastly superior to nationalism and rigid borders. The problems are entirely caused capital and the exploitation of workers, hence the plate overflowing with cookies. The wealthy are the problem, not immigrants.
