Recognise I’m exceptionally lucky but no idea how anyone could afford to complete a degree while living independently in current times.

Thanks! I’m now working in a new role where there is no more ridiculous pressure or wild expectations and have been able to commit to working on a degree (because I fucked up the first one).

Work shouldn’t leave you panicking on a monday morning or crying into your lunch.

My old boss gave me a load of shit for writing down tasks that I had to do. He just couldn’t comprehend that it wouldn’t stick if it wasn’t written down.

He took my book from me, and then asked me to do a bunch of complicated stuff each with its own deadline.

He then got annoyed when I didn’t do the stuff because I hadn’t written it down because he took my book.

He got sacked, I got promoted.

I don’t, I’ve considered it but I tend to complete over a couple of weeks and not too sure how to do it.

It sure did, I’ve completed 4 of this specific design now, and getting a bit quicker each time.

Typically, it’s between 24 and 48 hours to do, but regular breaks are needed because it’s easy to bruise your fingertips 😵‍💫

I’ve done this too. Someone who was not outputting the same amount of work as their colleagues, or when they did it was simple stuff with no real innovative features. The bare minimum.

Pulled logs off their machine, and they spent 4 hours on Google maps (they’re also a taxi driver after hours) and messing about on PayPal for another few hours (they also did some consultancy).

There was around 37 minutes of work done that day.

They were no longer burdened with this job which seemed to interfere with their other evening/weekend jobs.

I just use my teeth and it horrifys anyone I’m with…

Jokes on them though, because I’m the one with an open beer.

You can get as good as that as standard in the UK.

I get 36 days PTO, the legal minimum is 28 days. 25% bonus. Pension contribution, I pay 4%, company pays 8%. Health insurance included, but the NHS will cover most stuff.

This isn’t even a senior level position, it’s bottom level. Seniors get way more.

I get paid 4 weekly so get 13 pays a year.

My next door neighbour has a dog that just screams and wails all day. It sounds horiffic, but because it’s got food water and shelter and doing it in the day time when his owners are at work it’s ok (says the local authority).

If you have enough money to support local retailers then absolutely - it’s important.

But if you’re struggling to the extent that you’re envolope budgeting to make sure everything gets a share, then you’ve got bigger more immediate problems than Costco becoming so big you get your law degree from there.

As an autistic adult who successfully masks and is exhausted by conversation, about half of the interaction with my partner are sending memes back and forward because they get a feeling or point across in short format without loads of explanation.

It’s a very good communication format.

The last time my dad called was 16 years ago when my mum was bleeding out after surgery and we didn’t know if she was going to make it.

Other than that, it’s WhatsApp messages, and they’re usually about the dog.

I would 100% think someone had died if my dad called.
