I taught my daughter to read during covid when the schools were closed. ‘The’ was the first word she learned to read, and I did exactly what you suggest, pausing for her to read it. It really helped. When my workshop reopened I made her a silver badge of the word ‘the’ to celebrate.

  • I’m surprised by this answer! I’ve used standard circular saws for 30 odd years, but in the last few years I’ve used a couple of track saws, particularly a Makita system. I found them to be amazing. Fantastic accuracy, quicker setup, far superior dust extraction- made my old skilsaw look (and sound) like shit. Also, why wouldn’t you want a riving knife? It causes no hindrance and helps avoid accidents. Genuinely curious.

  • I used to work for a general builder we all called Nick The Freak. We were in our mid twenties and having a pretty good time of things off site. I used to call up the gaffer and say “Nick man, I can’t make it to the job today, I feel like shit” and he would say- yea Squeezer, Mars is in alignment with Saturn this week. Understandable. I’ve never appreciated bullshit so much.
