I’ve noticed that too. The compartmentalized nature of Reddit only exists becuase of the size of the communities. I’ve seen lot of people copying subreddits and also filling them with links to the top posts on that subreddit, meanwhile they are getting no comments or engagement. Lemmy should not act as a mirror hosting website for Reddit.

I may be new to lemmy, but I’ll share my opinion that I am ok with defederating with hexbear.

My biggest complaint is how Linus is still saying he’s not sorry about what he did, at least it doesn’t seem genuine, instead he is still apologizing that he didn’t realize what the community wanted.

He shouldn’t care what the community wants. He should always strive for accurate data, ethical partnerships, and correcting mistakes when they still make it through because they always will.

Linus is doubling down on his opinions, hiding mistakes, doing the bare minimum to fix them, and needs public outcry and the heavy hand of the other executives in LTT to see any course change.

Worst part of it was a few of them were not jokes. They actually shilled their own products in their apology video.

I’m a bit confused. Of course, if the parents are not supportive then them needing to approve the “nickname” is a problem, but if the parent is supportive, isn’t this good for parents becuase it give them more control over the school. If the parent approves of the nickname, the school has to recognize it and refer to the child by th name.

I agree it’s taking control away from the kids, but is it not giving full control to the parents?
