  • I have been deliberating this lately. Mainly due to online providers overreaching. I recently bought a small common office product. Click and collect. I ensured to click no comms/marketing. 2 times in the following 4 days I got an email offering an apple subscription from a no reply email address. I had to call and complain to get them to stop and they had the cheek to say they HAD to legally offer me this as it was free perk with my purchase. They didnt see how they could be wrong and tried to convince me this was not marketing and was infact a great deal for me. I asked him if I’d walked in store would I have been forced to somehow take the offer.

I am sick of my contact details and my spending ability being considered fair game.

You give them your money and that’s not enough they always want more.

  • Whilst they are technically correct this is overzealous use of the law and by three of them, it looks like a police force with too many officers looking for easy targets.

They can’t turn up to hate crimes so gang let’s go looking for minuscule crimes that people can be tripped up on. I wouldn’t even cause it civil disobedience as it’s not a crime that’s even educated on.

They might be right and even after review the service can say they are technically right however this is not a good look and erodes trust in authority.

  • Jumping on this and will be starting slowly. I have a newish laptop…that has a broken screen. Alternatively I can pick up a new one. I also have a bunch of portable hard drives.

I have terrible internet (cable) with the phone line sitting at a spot in the hall where I could keep a small dedicated cupboard. So I was thinking something connected by Ethernet.

I want to ideally use it for downloading content and streaming it to devices around the house. Likely firestick or an alternative tv box.

Secondly I would use to stream music to my iPhone outside the house.

Any guides or starting points would be welcome.
