The usaf if given the order would absolutely bomb cities. They have done it to other less fortunate countries before.

If anything it would be 10 US territories. It would take years before it was ever allowed to become a state even if peacefully annexed which would not be how this would happen.

I think you are underestimating the might of a military that has 1 Trillion dollars a year spent on it and has over 1 million active duty members. Trump is also dumb enough to authorize the use of nuclear weapons.

Lemmy is small mastodon is a little bigger but still absolutely tiny compared to those other social media platforms. The politicians should be where their base is which is twitter and the meta platforms.

Either go protest and get shot or you clearly asked for your rights to be stripped away feels like a slap in the face for anyone who is directly affected by the things that is happening and is extremely demotivating. It feels like someone saying that somehow it was your individual fault that states that you are not in did not vote the way you would have liked them too.

I don’t think people outside the US realize how hard people have fought to stop this from happening. How this was a slow decent that people have been doing their best to prevent for literal decades and the people in power just kept letting it happen. I am not saying that the democrats are as bad as the republicans but they have been complacent in letting the GOP destroy all the checks and balances that were available to them in the past. They should have blocked the SC picks but did not because it would have been bad form.

If that was in place you could get banned from all of lemmy for saying that but it wouldn’t even have to come from a mod just someone with enough free time to make a couple thousand accounts. I personally like the way one of the discords im in does it where it is basically a draft from the mod team to be head mod and leads to significantly less power tripping because they will be gone in the next month.

Finding an instance that fits you is also significantly more difficult than even mastodon too.
