I guess technicaly yeah? But this is very much not all the reaction from the Brazilian communists I’ve seen and this distinction realy doesn’t matter at all. Jones Manuel put out an excellent take on the issue.
I don’t think I need to point out China again but a lot of the shit decisions they make are often excused as “weakness” towards American imperialism when IMO this doesn’t exempt them from most of the stuff they could do but don’t because of brainworms.
In Brazil’s Lula case he is fumbling on a number of issues simply by refusing to take action. Bolsonaro and the far right are not in charge in political sense but the neoliberal capitalists are still very much governing as if the year is 2018. History is repeating itself, Lula could use his popular mandate to tackle important issues he choses not to because he is afraid of not being able to “govern”. He doesn’t understand and/or no longer cares about mass leftist movements, he doesn’t want conflict between the left working class and the right wing capitalist/middle class. He is afraid and fear leads to inaction and inaction when in power is just enabling your enemies(see paradox of tolerance).
So TL;DR this is not a meaningful distinction at all, its a major FP embarrassment for Lula and his government. Refer to the the video for the rest of the context. Israel has been incredibly belligerent towards Brazil in the mean time and there is no way to sugar coat this.
You’re not wrong but to be clear its not like his domestic policies have been anything remotely leftist either, people only focus on international issues here on HB but Lula 2.0 is an absolute monstrosity of a neoliberal shit government, Haddad deserves nothing but a wall along with the rest of the Bolsonaristas.
Sadly at this pace, Lula will not be re-elected.
Now that they’ve sold out they don’t even have to pretend to have any ideals or half measures, its not 2018 anymore, now they can openly say they must enforce X or Y policy because of shareholders value and PR and there is nothing you can argue about it(from a liberal standpoint).
I still think that everyone predicting an easy Trump victory is also going too far in the other direction, some people here constantly think its over because of [insert news cycle here].
That said Biden is only getting worse over the past 6 months too so honestly anyone predicting more than a close race right now is being biased. Biden does have a natural advantage though, the issues holding him back are still “manageable” i.e a few executive orders and suddenly he could be leading by xx%. Of course ideology and stupidity etc… but the point is it would also be foolish not to acknowledge they have room to turn all this around if they wanted to.
Liberals on reddit though, should be obvious by now r/politics and such is completely astroturfed. Even the NYT comment section will dunk on shitty articles more than r/politics, that’s how shit it is.
Already more harm than the probable millions spent on early war propaganda trying to demonize the whole Russian Z thing lol.
Maybe? This poll says the majority of Biden supporters wants both out which means they’re worried Trump matches even better against a Biden substitute and you know what is that even wrong? Considering who is waiting as the next likely candidate or perhaps someone just as bad?
The safest choice is to replace both, seems logical. But then its also a big question who would substitute Trump anyway? Still yeah given Trump actualy won an election its ok to not take that chance again if you can.
Of course I know the real reason is closer to just “orange man bad” but ignoring that.
Both sides are achieving absolutely nothing here, unless one really actualy believes the UN will ever get anywhere near the Nordstream shit and even if it did so what? They already blamed both the Russians and then the Ukrainians. They’ll have no problem blaming Ukrainian “extremists” while simultaneously pushing the same western values nonsense in Ukraine.

If you want to be pessimistic, the Rafah offensive rumors and plans of complete cleansing are true and the timing is too risky to allow protests going on in the middle of it. They believe they can control the entire narrative through the media or at least enough so that by the time real pressure comes Israel would have already finished the job and blue MAGA can come out and say “yeah well sorry about that, yeah maybe its bad but nothing fundamentally changed, TINA and either you vote for Biden or you’re a fascist”.
Its harder to do this if protests get out of hand before Israel finishes the job.
The idea perhaps was that by now Israel would be at war with Iran and they’d have complete support, since that didn’t happen and there is no changing course ever perhaps its necessary to clamp down now, face the bad media rep now before it gets worse.
All just speculation of course.

Post 2020 algos now dominate the market, these algos are extremely short term based(see how 0dte options are now the vast majority) which means the only way to make money is extreme short term movements. You don’t wait 2 years for a 25% move when you can move the market and get that in a week.
Also something something traditional long term investing doesn’t matter much when any good or bad news can fuck with your portfolio. The less time on the market the better etc.
Things will never get back to pre-Covid, SPY moves $5-10 in a day multiple times a month when this used to be a once a year event.
1·10 months agoThe Slay the Spire devs switched from Unity to Godot, that is how good it is. Its not perfect obviously but its come a very long way and its pretty much a “real”(i.e with actual released games) engine now.
Two points, first this possibly just Democrats trying to pander to right wingers but not realizing the people that want government surveillance, concentration camps for immigrants etc simultaneously believe the “big government bad” narrative and they don’t care about what is the newest Dem fascist/rascist stance, they still hate Democrats no matter what, they don’t care wtf the NYT is saying, they would [redacted] that place if they could.
So who is this for? If you want a conspiracy I suspect this quite possible a deliberate attempt at reading the room and seeing how much they can push the blue MAGA realy. Personally it wont be so easy, its too cartoon evil. Libs will embrace and try to minimize real existing Nazism(Ukraine) but there needs to be a catalyst, that time it was defending democracy against “evil” etc. But without that catalyst? Its a bit too soon and obvious. Or you can read the comments over there, its surprisingly majority negative and the positive comments must be bots or something, either way who would unironically write on the NYT comment section lol.

People who are consistently wrong about everything just happened to say what we want to hear. I’m not sure if its worthwhile giving any merit to this. IMO a large reason for America’s decline will be climate change and its not like we have a communist revolution waiting to happen tomorrow either. America is declining as a large combination of factors and one of the most important takeaways is they’ll drag the rest of the world along to the abyss.
Who cares about America when the world will boil us alive in 30 years? These clowns may be right but for mostly completely wrong and irrelevant reasons IMO.
