I was pretty sure I knew what a general strike was… wouldn’t any strike be more expensive than 2-4 hours of protest, and wouldn’t a general strike involve much more planning than a normal strike due to the scale and breadth?

Also I was worried that generalstrikeus.com was too soon. The UAW general strike is planned for 2028 to get time to plan, because a general strike isn’t something you can just do successfully at the drop of a hat.

I already moved. It’s not just Trump that’s the problem, and even if he loses in 2024, or does in office, the issues still will persist. America needs to figure out how to make the judicial system work properly and norms need to be codified. Vast swaths of the population need to change their culture of “us vs them”.

I won’t be going back, the way things work with Republicans, you can’t just move to a blue state, you have to move out of the country.

You find ways to use the animal fat and meat and “milk”, you find plants that work as food, maybe their seeds are great crushed up with a little water into a paste, maybe you need to dry them out, maybe you need to de-seed them and mix them with another plant to make it taste better… on and on.

You need to work with the people there to make tools, and together you iterate out exactly what you need.

Eventually you have to find something that matches your randomised flavour pallette for the perfect sandwich. You assemble all the ingredients you’ve collected, cultivated, or created, with the tools and techniques you and the townspeople have developed, and you take a bite. It’s perfect. You win.

You guys only got one isolated revolt last time, and remarkably anyone who had a gun illegally didn’t fire it, and anyone who had them legally didn’t fire until it was the last option. Hopefully it won’t get out of hand if he loses again, and I feel a whole lot better that someone stable is in charge for the lead up to a potential transfer of power this time.

Sometimes I swear these headlines and stories are just made by running every rightwing “news” article and tv network through a large language model and using the prompt “What do rightwing voters want to hear?” Or “What will make the average global citizen angry?” … And yet he says these things. I didn’t watch it, but my 11 and 12 year old watched it. Twice. My 11 year old doesn’t watch things twice, but he thought it was that good. So knowing nothing about the movie, I think it’s worth your kids’ time.

I hear the best way to get the right answer on the internet is to say something untrue and have someone correct you, so I am gonna say that yes, the administrator of your instance can see what you are subscribed to, or at the very least can see what users in their instance are subscribed to. If it’s anything like Boost for Reddit was, it’s unnoticeable. Every 20 or so posts you’ll see an ad and just scroll past, no animations or sound. I think I recall seeing a bottom banner? Any other Boost users confirm? I really just ignored it so I can’t recall.
