skate. from developer Full Circle and Electronic Arts (EA) is about to enter Early Access, and due to the anti-cheat there's no support for Linux / Steam Deck.

This will have no impact on my permanent boycott of EA products.

I play their free games because i assume it costs them money for the license and every time I download something from their servers.

They sell the data collected from your activity to data brokers and in multiplayer games you serve as opponent or ally to paying customers.

If you want to boycott them, avoid them. If you want to play the games that’s fine, just be honest to yourself.

I just treat all of their offerings, regardless of cost, as polonium.

Them not supporting Linux makes it easy for me to maintain my personal ban on EnshitificationAmalgamated.

This is the only thing EA has released in years I was interested in. Wasn’t going to buy it anyways, and now I can’t play it even if I wanted to. I’ll just stick to session and skater XL if I want the skate experience.

Oh, that’s a shame. My desire to try out Bazzite outweighs my desire to play this game, though.

If it’s proton compatible, it might still be possible to play on something beefier than a steam deck, maybe?

Unfortunately, the issue is with the kernel-level EA Javelin anticheat.

Why do you need a kernel anti cheat for a scateboard game?
