It was pink because it was part of a carbon copy form. You write on the top sheet of paper and then you get 3 copies of what you wrote, one for the employee and 2 for other records. Carbon copy paper was very popular before you could just print 3 copies of something.

Yup, that’s also why it’s so blurry; As the pressure moves through each sheet of paper, it gets more and more spread out. You could technically dial up the tension on your typewriter to make more copies, but they would still end up blurry as the paper spread out the force of the impact.

Good observation, I haven’t seen more than a 5 part form but it might be possible, I have seen 5 part carbon copies though.

Well, it was because the farmers and working man always had a red neck from sun exposure. And then in the coal mining days- this is my favorite part- unionizing workers would tie red bandanas around their necks to show solidarity. These are the men and boys who literally fought and died for our rights as workers. They were shot, even bombed, because they banded together to stand up to the coal companies. This caused the propaganda machines to start turning the masses against the term redneck. They stole the word and turned it into a synonym for ignorance and bigotry.

People often speak about unions and their ties to the mob. But they fail to realize that this was done out of necessity for survival. Literally. Slavery didn’t stop at the civil war. And ever since, we’ve been made to fight one another.

But even the rich vs poor fight is merely a construct built to divide us. The fact of the matter is that some people are just cruel monsters, and the rest of us have been so scared of them that we let them take the reigns from us. We were so afraid of being the one to stand up that we’ve allowed everyone around us to be forced to their knees.

And now we’re looking for anyone to blame but ourselves.

Ok I gotta get off this toilet, but I hope that clears things up :-)
