There always seem to be new civic, union, and indigenous leaders to assassinate. The rate has stayed pretty constant for the years I’ve lived in Colombia, aside from a real spike during covid lockdowns when it was easy to find people at home.
So on the one hand, people are stepping up to fill the roles. But on the other hand, they don’t seem to be able to provision for community self-defense.
