I really want to try Filen as my main cloud provider but my main brake point is that the app doesn’t automatically upload my images in the background. I’m not sure if this is because I’m on the free plan or because of my device, has anyone had better luck with the automatic image upload in the background?
Have lifetime plan, currently on iOS and I have no background upload at all, only when the app is open. Not sure if it works on Android but maybe this info is helpful.
I can’t answer your question. Since this is degoogle though I will say that the app has trackers from both Google and Sentry.
I have paid for the “lifetime” plan, and can confirm it’s not uploading in the background for me.
At least it’s not a limitation for paying users but it still sucks, thanks for the info.
I’ll just mention that 1TB Nextcloud (supports encryption) at Hetzner is €5/month, and background upload works. It also has tons of features, not just files.
