I think there’s a good chance you’re vividly misremembering the lyrics.
A few weeks ago I was looking for a song I was POSITIVE had the lyric “got to get my baby back” and it wasn’t until days later I remembered another lyric, found the song, and realized the lyric was actually “got to get a hold of this” (RJD2 - Through The Walls, by the way)
I have an insanely good musical memory so I was 100% sure on the lyric until proven otherwise lol

I don’t have an answer but I do have a few followup questions:
Do you know for sure that it’s an 80s song? As opposed to a song from later that sounds 80s?
How confident are you on the lyrics? Could you be remembering the cadence and misremembering the words?
Was the “get get get get down” part the singer herself or some kind of sample?
Was the “nothing truly matters” lyric a one-off line or part of the refrain?
Would you consider whistling the melody on vocaroo.com?
When people overuse stuff like that it makes me think…should I not trust you if you don’t say it? Like are your default statements illegitimate which is why you feel the need to stress that THIS statement is real?
Obviously people don’t mean it like that, it’s just a dumb quirk in my brain making me annoyed by it. I even get annoyed by some of my own linguistic habits
