It’s either that Cameron seems to have been influenced strongly by Disney or the archetypes and symbolism in popular stories.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Guys and Girls of the fediverse who have made the decision to end a toxic relationship, did you choose to go to the gym? If so what has been the out come for you since then?
3·3 months agoIt doesn’t surprise me that marketers figured out that people going through a break up is an audience to profit from.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Why did Montreal need to prove that it's a real place? What happened to the people who called it Montimaginary
4·3 months agoThis is probably one of the most genuine showerthoughts I’ve seen in a while. (insert meme of man and woman in bed: woman reckons he’s thinking about other women)

He was fully conscious that science models behaviour but doesn’t - maybe never will - give the purpose behind it.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Taking a photo to remember a moment is actually outsourcing that memory to an image, so your brain does less work and remembers it worse.
1·3 months agoThis is actually scientifically proven, you sure you weren’t just recalling a tidbit from the news cycle a while back? Heh.

Yeah, this is glorified nether portal.

1·3 months agoThere is something different on that plane but no, it’s not death. Search ‘astral body’ and go from there. Or read the Tibetan Book of the Dead for a general breakdown of dying.
I’m guessing it was just 50-100 pixels more on the bottom to include the artist. Hmm.
While I disagree with identifying the working class with ‘chav’, the origin of the word did start very much in classism and stereotyping (hence my deep disagreement with the term). A pretty good analysis in this article: https://eathealthy365.com/the-rise-and-fall-of-the-chav-in-british-culture/
The commenter said ‘soaking up benefits’, I don’t think the working class people would be looking like ‘chavs’ because many of them are going to and from work in uniform. Plus, you’re essentially equating all working class people with chavs? So walking into a Tescos, every member of staff is a chav?

7·3 months agoMaking coffee like a barista is infinitely more satisfying. A combined coffee machine: grinder and pressured hot water is bound to be cheaper than a fully automated one. You can push the grains down yourself, and make the coffee as strong or weak as you like.
As expected, ThinkPad. I have a Yoga X1, the stylus and touch works fine. But if you’re installing Linux take great care of to have copious amounts of swap or swapfile because ram is low.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you guys know people who are awful human beings, but end up being super attractive, smart and loved by everyone they seem, but you can see through their bullshit and don't like them?
3·3 months agoDamn right! You don’t need therapy to disconnect from people, unless they were a focal part of your life.

5·3 months agoI don’t judge beautiful smart people outwardly, but by their actions and behaviour. For example, beautiful and shrewd woman who rises to be a principal in a school, speaks loudly on the phone when a quiet accountant is talking to me, hangs out with her ‘friend’ (colleague) the majority of the time, proceeds to make a student drop a subject discreetly without informing the subject teacher, and attempts to make me cover a class with a ‘polite’ request that didn’t give the option of ‘No’. It’s only been one month!
I wouldn’t be able to use a timer for an accurate cooking anyway due to being 2000m above sea level.
You can certainly feel it when walking up four flights of stairs.

It wouldn’t surprise me if an accidental load of static electricity got inside the electronics. Would certainly take a while to dissipate through air, especially air trapped inside the device.
Nevertheless, it might be worth trying grounding all the terminals that usually connect to the battery.
