I enjoyed it, but it left me with the feeling that massive amounts of the game were sitting on the cutting room floor. Art direction was wonderful though. Can be regularly found at sub $5 pricing, I’d suggest taking a look.
Happy to see it recommended, I played it not long ago.
It was fun and I enjoyed the whole thing but I won’t play it again until I have forgotten the story, it is very story heavy. It is a very good looking game and has a very good level design (I was only lost in one small area). Even tho I often did puzzles as they may not have been intended to do (the order and such) was it never a problem, it made me very happy that I could do whatever without being punished/forced and there were many ways to do one thing (more often than not). It feels nice to complete a more story focused game like this. Most games feels endless nowadays and are not as polished of an experience as it was with gunk.
I can recommend the game if you want a break from intense games or if you are a more casual gamer. The game play is pretty chill, it is hard to die (I only died by falling into water…) You need to be a bit creative with how you fight many monsters at the same time but if you figure it out then it is manageable but can be chaotic. Fighting isn’t the main thing about this game so that is why I don’t think it has to be challenging.
I don’t think it’s phenomenal at all.
The gameplay is pretty interesting, a pretty nice puzzle platformer with a somewhat unique mechanic. Graphics are really nice too.
But the game is very short. And the story is pretty bad too. I wrote in the Steam forums about how this game is the perfect example why The Prime Directive exists in Star Trek.
If I didn’t get this game through Humble Monthly and bought it instead, I’d have been pretty disappointed.
I wrote a really extensive review of this game right here.
To me, this is a true hidden gem. I know that term gets abused quite a lot, but not a whole lot of people know about this one. Yet it’s one of the most memorable 3D platformers I’ve played in awhile.
Was free on GOG some time ago, or maybe via Prime? Not sure how, but I got it and plan to play it sometime.
Humble bundle
Your review is really nice and gives a good picture of the game, thanks! Might have to pick this up.
One of my favorite games ever is unreal. Not tournament… But the original unreal.
There’s a level where you have to cross a research lab… But there are silver metallic blobs that try and kill you.
As a 45 yr old man . I still have an irrational fear of blobs that move.
The gunk looks pretty… But the trailer filled me with such anxiety and dread… I couldn’t finish it.
Lol
Thanks for sharing op but I’m absolutely going to have to pass.
I got 3.4 hours into it, I found it very pretty.
Also a good example of why renewables are important
